Airidas Korolkovas

Staff Software Engineer at Yorlabs

Airidas Korolkovas has a wealth of experience in the fields of software engineering, x-ray physics and imaging science, computational physics, nuclear physics, and microfluidics. Starting in 2022, they have been a Staff Software Engineer at YorLabs. From 2019-2022, they were an X-ray Physicist and Imaging Scientist at iTomography Corporation, where they pioneered diffraction tomography to detect explosives and narcotics in luggage, implemented multi-energy x-ray tomography for accurate oil & gas exploration, and accelerated small animal imaging reconstructions using advanced GPU methods. From 2017-2019, they were a Computational Physicist (Postdoc) at Uppsala University, where they exceeded simulation world speed record by 100x, revealing new polymer physics, and single-handedly published in Advanced Theory and Simulations. From 2013-2017, they were a Nuclear Physicist (PhD) at ILL - Institut Laue Langevin, where they discovered the friction response of polymer brushes, advancing artificial joint research. In 2013, they also had an Internship on Capillary Force Assembly at CNRS, LTM, where they had practical hands-on experience in the fabrication, characterisation, and operation of an experimental microfluidics device. Their results were presented in a poster at the International Conference on Micro and Nano Engineering, London, UK, 2013.

Airidas Korolkovas began their educational journey in 2008, when they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Industrial Engineering from Politecnico di Torino. Airidas then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Textile Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in 2011. The following year, Korolkovas obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology from KU Leuven, and then earned another Master of Science (M.S.) in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology from Universit\u00e9 Grenoble Alpes in 2013. Finally, in 2016, Korolkovas completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Physics from Universit\u00e9 Grenoble Alpes.
