Public Relations Manager

Marketing · Full-time · London, United Kingdom

Job description

We’re looking for a Public Relations Manager - UK, to help us support our brand our product and the marketing team.

Nice to meet you

Yoto puts kids in control of an inspiring world of audio.

Our screen-free audio players let kids listen, learn and play at their own pace. All while making sure they’re safe to explore what inspires them.

The award-winning Yoto Player launched in 2020, just before the big you-know-what. Now you can find it on play mats, kitchen counters and bedside tables all around the world. Yoto Mini, our portable player, launched in late 2021 and is already accompanying kids on some incredible adventures.

The Yoto Card Store has more than 700 titles from some of the world's best creators, publishers and labels. We also create Yoto Originals like this one. Oh, and this one too!

Yoto marketing team

We are a tight knit, but fast growing, team with experience across a wide range of sectors and disciplines. Some of us are generalists, and some specialists. We do most work in house, but also use agencies where needed. As a team, and also as a company, we are customer obsessed. Everyone in the team is passionate about building and nurturing our community.

The Yoto marketing team is spread across the UK, US and France and we look after a lot - from brand strategy to campaign development, copywriting and communications to community, ecommerce and growth. We work closely with most other teams, but particularly our friends in the product, creative and content teams.

The position

This is a brand-new role reporting to the Head of Marketing, Europe. Since late 2019, we’ve been working with a retained PR agency in the UK who have done an excellent job in helping to grow Yoto, delivering strong results across various media. However, from March 2022 we will no longer retain an agency in the UK, but instead bring some dedicated resource in-house, then use agency support for specific projects and campaigns when required. We are looking for a hands-on all-rounder to support the marketing team in growing the Yoto brand within the UK, ensuring our campaigns are communicated across all media.

What you’ll be doing

Your job will be to get us talked about across a mix of channels, from blogs to broadsheets and everything in between.

  • Working with the wider marketing team, develop the annual UK PR plan in line with regional and global objectives
  • Aid all relevant brand, product and content campaigns
  • Creation and briefing of materials including press releases and imagery
  • Pitching stories and campaigns to journalists, bloggers and influencers
  • Finding and developing interesting and engaging ideas, stories and activations that will help to drive the growth of the Yoto brand
  • Manage the UK PR budget
  • Work with the social team to build relationships and engage with influencers and other talent
  • Provide aid where required at trade and consumer events
  • Work with the US and Europe teams to ensure consistency of messaging and sharing best practice

What you’ll need

We’re looking for someone with solid UK PR experience and the contacts to match. This is a hands-on role, so you need to be equally comfortable pitching stories to media, as you are leading on PR strategy.

  • 4 years PR experience
  • Experience managing a press office
  • Great contacts across the media
  • Solid copywriting skills
  • Experience working with influencers and talent
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders and partners
  • Experience working in or with a high growth start-up/scale-up desirable
  • Ability to take on large workloads while keeping your cool
  • Agency and in-house experience desirable
  • Experience managing agencies desirable
  • An understanding of marketing kids products to parents
  • A passion for audio content and technology
  • Ability to think on your feet, work autonomously and learn fast

What we offer in return

  • Generous EMI share options - we’re all invested in Yoto’s success
  • Hybrid working with a choice based approach (we would love you to come into the office once a month, and more)
  • Central London office in Kings Cross
  • A collaborative tech-focused creative environment
  • Annual company retreat, Yotofest
  • Salary: £45,000 DOE
