Christie Valentin - Bati

Christie V. is an experienced educator and poet currently serving as a Professor of English at Carthage College and a Writing Lecturer at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. With a strong focus on creative writing, Christie has developed innovative curricula that emphasize social movements, personal truth, and interdisciplinary approaches. As a Poet-in-Residence at the Chicago Poetry Center and a Poetry Teaching Artist for both Young Chicago Authors and 826CHI, Christie facilitates workshops that empower youth through creative expression and literacy. Additionally, Christie has held various writing and editorial roles, including Assistant Marketing Manager at Sky Organics and Copyeditor & Digital Coordinator at The Miami Times, showcasing expertise in content creation and social media management. Christie's academic background includes a Master of Fine Arts in Poetry from Columbia College Chicago and dual degrees in English and Sociology from Florida State University.
