Vivienne spent her career in the Civil Service, at first in the Home Office but later providing ICT to the police, in the Health and Safety Executive, and finally in the Office of Fair Trading where she was Chief Executive at its closure. A qualified accountant, she specialised in finance and other corporate functions, and she led a wide range of operational services. Since retirement she has been deeply involved in governing two schools, one needing to be turned round after being put into special measures. She also sits on the Board and/or audit committee of 3 other national charities. She first took an interest in neurosciences when reading medicine at Cambridge. And she has experienced being the parent of very sick children having lost her first two daughters in early childhood. This led her to join the Governing Body of a special school for children with physical and often serious or profound learning difficulties.
Vivienne was appointed as a Trustee of Young Epilepsy in February 2015.
