Jarmo Hiipakka

Jarmo Hiipakka has extensive work experience in the field of software development and architecture. Jarmo started their career as a Research Scientist at Helsinki University of Technology in 1999. Jarmo then joined Nokia in 2000, where they held various roles including Senior SW Architect and (Senior) Research Engineer, focusing on audio user interfaces, algorithms, and multimedia software architectures.

In 2014, Jarmo moved to Microsoft as a Senior Architect, initially working on audio software for Nokia Lumia Engineering and later transitioning to the role of Senior Architect, Natural User Interaction SW in the Lumia Engineering team. Jarmo led a team of software professionals and collaborated with other teams and technology providers to develop innovative audio features for smartphones.

From 2016 to 2018, Jarmo worked at Nokia Technologies as a Principal Architect, Audio Software, leading the architecture and Scrum master responsibilities for the spatial audio mixing feature of the OZO Live VR streaming product.

Since 2018, Jarmo has been working at Yousician, first as the Core Application Lead, then as the Application Development Lead, and currently as the Senior Engineering Team Lead.

Jarmo Hiipakka received an MSc (Tech) degree from Teknillinen korkeakoulu-Tekniska högskolan in the years 1992-1999. Jarmo also obtained a certification as a Certified Scrum Master from Scrum Alliance in September 2016.
