You are an experienced hospitality leader who wants to work Monday – Friday with a purposeful organisation. You want to mix your passions for hospitality, develop your team and create an environment for young people to succeed. You enjoy variety in your role and can shift effortlessly from leading a team, roster management, training a young person, engaging with suppliers and supporting internal catering orders. You seek to develop processes and systems that make things run smoothly and always look for ways to improve. You are driven by creating a high-quality product, having a purpose in the workplace and ensuring financial sustainability. 

What you'll bring

This is a unique role, and we need you to be able to demonstrate experience in the following areas: 

  • 3+ years of Hospitality and/or Barista experience
  • Experience in managing a staffing team of over 20 people and coordinating service delivery in a hospitality setting
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • Financial literacy
  • Team-first approach
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, inclusive of all people and all abilities
  • Proven ability to meet targets and manage rosters.
  • Self-motivated and able to work autonomously.

About the Role 

We are searching for a vibrant person to lead The Little Social café team and join our ever-growing social enterprise team. You will work across our cafes (mainly Alfred Hospital and Victorian Pride Centre) while working closely with our catering team and the Social Enterprise Leader as the central point of contact for day-to-day management. Our ideal person will coordinate and inspire our team of café changemakers to provide and deliver the highest levels of customer and hospitality service at The Little Social. You will also supervise and provide hands-on mentoring, support and guidance to the team whilst taking the lead with stock management, rostering and building customer retention.

About Youth Projects  

We are an independent, registered charity providing front line support to young people and individuals experiencing disadvantage, unemployment, homelessness, alcohol and other drug issues. We also help those looking to re-engage with learning and employment. We recognise the complex and varying needs of the people we work with and go above and beyond, 365 days a year, to provide pathways out of poverty. 

Last year, our highly skilled multi-disciplinary team provided 15,288 face-to-face contacts to people via The Living Room, supported 1,243 young people through our employment and training programs, and dispensed 1.3+ million safe injecting kits through our harm reduction programs.  

Our culture is casual yet professional and high energy. Our team is serious about their work but doesn’t take themselves too seriously.
