Daniel S. is the current Head of DevOps & Performance at yulife. Daniel has previous experience as a DevOps Engineer and CTO. In May 2019, they started working as a DevOps Engineer at Veterinary Medicines Directorate. Daniel was tasked with writing C# APIs for a public sector application around image processing. Daniel also implemented early prototype views for a NodeJS application serving web pages with the HAPI web framework, templated by Nunjucks. The final part of their contract was to modify the existing codebase to allow it to be deployed using Docker containers. Once the application elements were containerised, they used a hybrid stack of Jenkins, Helm and Kubernetes to deploy the platform in Amazon Web Services elastic Kubernetes platform.
In November 2017, Daniel started working at upUgo as a contract role to develop an MVP for a new SEO platform. After the MVP was created, they were employed as the company's CTO. Daniel was responsible for a small team of internationally distributed engineers. They used Javascript for both the frontend and backend work. The platform was built on AWS, using mainly serverless technologies. Daniel had built the platform from scratch, in the end, gaining over 500 active users. The platform also received an honourable mention at the UK Search Engine Awards.
Daniel S. achieved a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Mathematics from the University of Bath. Before that, they completed a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the same school. They also have a certification from The Linux Foundation in CKAD: Certified Kubernetes Application Developer.
Their manager is Josh Hart, Co-Founder, Chief Product & Technology Officer. They work with and Rob Savage - Head of Product Management.
