Whitney R. Thomas

Whitney R. Thomas is a Computational Scientist at Zap Energy since March 2023, focusing on the development of plasma-neutral fluid models and radiation models for z-pinches. Prior experience includes serving as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Washington, where simulation and characterization of plasma-based photonic crystals and metamaterials were conducted. Previous positions held include Oiler/Electrician aboard the R/V Sikuliaq, Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Aeronautics & Astronautics, and various engineering roles at maritime companies, including Chief Engineer at Kirby Offshore Marine and Project Manager at Harley Marine Services. Whitney holds a PhD in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the University of Washington, along with a Master's and Bachelor's degree in related fields, and an Associate's degree in Marine Engineering Technology from Seattle Maritime Academy.
