Jacob Humber

Jacob Humber has held a number of roles in the data science field. From 2019 to present, they have been the Head of Data Science at Zebit. Prior to this, they were the Data Science Manager and Data Scientist at Zebit. From 2017 to 2019, they were the AVP of Data Analytics and Senior Data Analyst at Axos Bank. In this role, they were responsible for cleaning and performing feature engineering on large amounts of credit data, modeling credit risk with advanced ML algorithms, and developing and deploying a Python module that utilized natural language processing. From 2010 to 2017, they were a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of California, Davis. In this role, they collected disparate data sets and managed them within a SQL database, developed software with the R programming language to apply cutting-edge time series methods on commodity prices, generated demand forecasts and cost-effectiveness estimates for a new micronutrient supplement within Africa and Bangladesh, managed, analyzed and cleaned large amounts of household socioeconomic survey data, and wrote reports and academic journals summarizing findings.

Jacob Humber obtained their Bachelor's degree in Economics from Northern Illinois University in 2008, having started their studies in 2004. Jacob then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Economics from the University of California, Davis, which they completed in 2016.
