Rob Fair has been working in the field of software engineering since 1989. Rob began their career at Ingres as a Software Engineer, where they worked on the INGRES DBMS product. Rob then moved to Relational Technology, Inc. in 1992, where they held the role of Support Engineer, providing support for INGRES RDBMS, networking, and distributed database products. In 1994, they joined Data General as a Software Engineer, where they were part of a team developing DG/UX kernel infrastructure for high-speed distributed databases. In 1999, they moved to Network Appliance as a Senior Engineer. In 2008, they joined EMC (Data Domain) as a Technical Director and Consultant Software Engineer, where they worked on Linux-based storage appliances for the enterprise. In 2017, they moved to Dell EMC as a Member of Technical Staff, where they were a Senior Consultant Engineer with the Data Domain group of EMC BRS (Backup and Recovery Systems). In 2021, they joined Zebrium as an Architect and Senior Engineer. Currently, Rob Fair is a Principal Architect at ScienceLogic - Zebrium.
Rob Fair obtained a Bsc in Physics from Imperial College London between 1980 and 1983. Rob then went on to pursue a MCS in Computer Science from North Carolina State University from 1998 to 2002. In addition to their formal education, Rob Fair has obtained a number of certifications from Coursera, including Architecting with Google Kubernetes Engine: Foundations (2020), Reliable Cloud Infrastructure: Design and Process (2019), Architecting with Google Cloud Platform (2019), Elastic Cloud Infrastructure: Scaling and Automation (2019), Elastic Cloud Infrastructure: Containers and Services (2019), Essential Cloud Infrastructure: Core Services (2019), Essential Cloud Infrastructure: Foundation (2019), and Google Cloud Platform Fundamentals: Core Infrastructure (2019). Rob is also a Certified ScrumMaster (CSM).
