About ZELP:

ZELP is an agricultural technology company committed to creating a sustainable future for agriculture - one that meets the needs of present and future generations, promoting human and environmental health, animal welfare, and social and economic equity.

We are currently developing a suite of technologies to mitigate and measure cattle methane emissions, which are responsible for almost 10% of the total greenhouse gas emissions that cause global warming. The deployment of our technologies on a global scale has the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to eliminating emissions from all forms of transportation combined, and to greatly transform the beef and dairy industries.

About the role:

We are seeking an exceptional and highly energetic  Head of People to take the lead on all HR matters at ZELP. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be  the trusted partner to the leadership team, driving initiatives across the entire employee lifecycle, including recruitment, performance management, diversity & inclusion, learning & development, and employee engagement. Please note that this is a hands-on role and the Head of People will  be expected to be  both strategic and take on operational tasks..

Responsibilities:

  • People Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive people strategy aligned with our business goals, ensuring we have the right talent in place to scale..

  • Leadership and Coaching: Provide training and coaching for Managers and Team Leaders on best practice HR such as: Disciplinaries and Grievances, Recruitment, and Appraisals. Mentor managers and team leaders, developing leadership skills across the business.

  • Talent Acquisition: Lead the recruitment and selection process ensuring we attract and hire the best in class candidates possible across all our departments.

  • Culture ambassador: Role model the company values and behaviours, designing and putting in place initiatives to inspire employees, driving the company culture and creating a great working environment.

  • Performance Management: Oversee our performance management process, giving guidance to Heads of Departments and Managers on how to evaluate employees performance, set goals, and provide feedback.

  • Diversity & Inclusion: Promote and put in place diversity, equality, and inclusion initiatives across the organisation, ensuring our workplace reflects our values and welcomes everyone.

  • HR Operations: Overseeing all HR operations including our HRIS platform (BambooHR) payroll,  compliance,  policies and procedures ensuring they comply with the current legislation and best practice. ,

  • Metrics and Analytics: Producing a monthly HR report, which includes  key HR metrics and analytics which  measure the effectiveness of our HR programs and initiatives.

  • Employee Relations: Foster positive employee relationships, making sure any  concerns, or disputes, are resolved quicky and efficiently  whilst promoting a positive workplace culture.

  • Office Management: Directly manage the Office Manager ensuring that their operational tasks such as office maintenance, employee onboarding, and general HR admin are completed to a high standard and in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • CIPD Level 5 or above.

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.

  • Experience in a stand-alone or small People/HR function where you’ve owned, led, and delivered various aspects of the employee lifecycle.

  • Strong knowledge of HR best practice, employment law and regulations.

  • Experience managing payroll and other HR-related functions on a daily basis.

  • Experience managing the full recruitment cycle, from job posting to onboarding and succession planning.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and effectively collaborate with all stakeholders.

  • First rate attention to detail particularly when producing slide decks and other HR documentation

  • Previous experience working at a growing technology start-up, and supporting its scaling process is a strong plus

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile and dynamic start-up environment, adapting quickly to changing priorities and requirements.
