Joel Yap

Joel Yap has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. In 2017, they founded Double Strained, a bartending startup that provided tailored bartending services for private events. Joel started the business as a part-time job and later evolved it into a sustainable venture. However, due to the impact of Covid, they had to close down the business in June 2020.

In 2019, Joel worked as a Teaching Assistant at NUS Computing, where they assisted in teaching various subjects.

In 2020, they co-founded LevelUp and served as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) until December 2021.

From August 2021 to April 2022, Joel worked as a Technical Project Manager at Alibaba Group.

In April 2022, they joined Entrepreneur First as a Founder in Residence, focusing on medical applications of edge NLP. However, they left the program after the formation phase due to not finding a suitable partner-idea fit.

Currently, Joel is the Head of Product at Zenith Learning Group, a position they have held since August 2022.

Joel Yap holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Joel also has a Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics from the National University of Singapore, School of Computing, which they obtained from 2018 to 2021. Additionally, Joel has an IB Diploma from Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) that they completed from 2010 to 2015. Joel has obtained certifications as an Amazon Web Services Cloud Practitioner from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in 2020 and as a Tableau Desktop Specialist from Tableau Software in 2019.
