Tony Pilara

Engineer at ZeroCater

Tony Pilara is a software engineer who currently works for ZeroCater. Tony has over 10 years of experience in the field, working with companies such as Frooggo and Enscene Games. During their time at Frooggo, Tony worked on a team of two to create a daily fantasy sports website from scratch. Tony designed and built the website backend using Django, Postgres, Celery, Redis, and MongoDB. The site has grown to over 1,000 users and paid out more than $350,000 in contest winnings. At Enscene Games, Tony was responsible for maintaining the company's 20 colocated production servers, regularly upgrading hardware, software, and ordering new servers and setting them up as needed. Tony also started an on-going project to move aging physical hardware to virtual machines and move servers from the colocation center to the cloud so the company could reduce operating overhead. In addition, Tony wrote internal tools and scripts in C# and Python to automate repetitive tasks and to parse log files and character data, which enabled coworkers to quickly view game assets. The tools eliminated a time-consuming process between our artists and game team that previously had taken several days. Finally, Tony created an administration dashboard to track game and company metrics for company leadership.

Tony Pilara's educational career includes a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley. Their major was political science and their minor was public policy.

Tony Pilara reports to Dave Cao, Product Lead.
