Sean Kamkar

Sean Kamkar is the Head of Data Science at ZestAI. Sean has extensive experience in technical, financial, and regulatory strategic development, as well as managing projects and directing programs. Their work is focused on identifying and mitigating the risk of aging infrastructure assets to improve safety and affordability for millions of customers through the development of novel data-driven approaches.

Previously, Sean worked at Exponent Failure Analysis Associates as a Senior Associate. In this role, they were responsible for developing highly scalable, robust, and accurate algorithms for high-performance rotorcraft simulation software. Sean also applied these methods to a greater number of practical rotorcraft cases and authored/co-authored additional academic publications.

Before that, Sean was a Postdoctoral Scholar at the US Department of Defense, Comp. Inst. for Rotorcraft. In this role, they developed highly scalable, robust, and accurate algorithms for high-performance rotorcraft simulation software and applied these methods to a greater number of practical rotorcraft cases. Sean also authored/co-authored additional academic publications.

Sean has also served as an Aeronautics & Astronautics Engineering Course Advisor at Stanford University's Center for Professional Development. In this role, they advised students on course selection and career planning.

Sean Kamkar received a B.S. in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering from UC San Diego, an M.S. in Aeronautics & Astronautics Engineering from Stanford University, and a Ph.D. in Aeronautics & Astronautics Engineering from Stanford University.
