MD, Corporate Finance Healthcare at Ziegler

Vin Ferrara joined Ziegler as a Managing Director in 2021, to help lead the firm’s Healthcare Impact Fund as its Portfolio Manager. Vin works with Ziegler’s team of healthcare investment banking and private equity experts to impact human health and well-being through investments in companies seeking to drive innovation at mission-driven U.S. health systems, for the purpose of improving community health and caregiver well-being. Vin has a diverse healthcare background, comprised of over 25 years of experience as a researcher, MD/MBA, entrepreneur, operator, management consultant, and impact investor healthcare.

Prior to joining Ziegler, Vin was a Partner at Concord Health Partners, a healthcare private equity firm, where he actively engaged in sourcing and supporting innovative companies in the fields of healthcare technology and services, with a focus on helping U.S. hospitals and health systems with innovations such as virtual care, clinical decision support, workforce management, and advanced data analytics, among others. Vin also led Concord’s impact investing strategy development, and served as a primary liaison to the American Hospital Association and health system limited partners.

Vin launched his business career as founder and CEO at Xenith, which helped change the paradigm for concussion prevention and management in sports, through a relentless commitment to both innovation and education. Vin was subsequently a management consultant within the healthcare practice at global consulting firm McKinsey & Company, where he participated on a variety of projects for senior leaders of healthcare systems, medical device manufacturers, biopharmaceutical companies, and private equity firms. He was then a member of the corporate strategy and medical affairs teams at Biogen, a leading neuroscience biopharmaceutical company, and was chief business development officer at Thorne HealthTech, an innovative consumer wellness company.

Vin received an MD from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, as well as an MBA from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business, where he focused on topics related to healthcare venturing. Prior to graduate school, he worked for three years as a research fellow at the Transplantation Biology Research Center at Massachusetts General Hospital on protocols designed to increase availability and success of organ transplants. Vin is a graduate of Harvard University, where he was a Government major.
