Head Of Developer Productivity at Zipline

Michael Hackner has extensive work experience in the software engineering field. Michael most recently worked at Zipline as the Head of Developer Productivity. Prior to that, they were the Head of Developer Tools at Ghost Autonomy, where they led developer productivity and tooling initiatives. Unfortunately, their time at Ghost Autonomy was cut short due to layoffs.

Before their roles at Zipline and Ghost Autonomy, Michael worked at Tesla as a Staff Software Engineer from October 2019 to July 2022 and as a Senior Software Engineer from August 2017 to October 2019.

Prior to Tesla, Michael held the position of Senior Software Engineer at Webs (a Vistaprint company) from September 2013 to July 2017. In this role, they led an initiative on continuous delivery and managed a team of interns.

Before joining Webs, Michael worked at HelloWallet as a Software Engineer from August 2011 to July 2013. During their time there, they built consumer-facing web app features and developed their Android app.

Michael's career also includes experience as a Senior Consultant at Dante Consulting from April 2010 to August 2011. In this role, they worked in an agile team and built a component of an inventory management system.

At the start of their career, Michael worked at The EMMES Corporation as a Clinical Systems Analyst from July 2008 to April 2010 and as a Data Manager from April 2007 to July 2008. In these roles, they made significant improvements to runtime efficiency and productivity through programmatic quality control and user representation in design discussions.

Michael Hackner holds a B.S. degree in Mathematics & Spanish from the University of Maryland, which they obtained from 2001 to 2006. Michael pursued further education at The Johns Hopkins University, where they earned an M.S. degree in Computer Science from 2010 to 2013. In addition to their academic accomplishments, Michael Hackner also obtained the Sun Certified Java Programmer certification from Sun Microsystems in June 2010.
