Virgílio Gruppelaar

Virgílio Gruppelaar has a diverse work experience, starting with their current position as a Product Lead at ZMP Inc. Virgílio has held various roles within the company, such as Unit Leader - Autonomous Robotic Transportation, Division Leader - Robot Behavior, and Software Engineer.

Prior to joining ZMP Inc., Virgílio worked as a Piloted Driving Intern at AUDI AG, where they focused on evaluating, improving, and expanding roundabout perception algorithms for self-driving cars. Virgílio also conducted research as a Graduate Student Researcher at the Hasegawa Shoichi Laboratory at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, where they worked on haptic sensing of a virtual environment.

Additionally, Virgílio gained experience as a Full Stack Developer at KE-works, where they were involved in implementing new front-end features and re-designing back-end data architecture for a product development process optimization software.

Virgílio also worked as a Teaching Assistant at TU Delft and served as a Chassis Engineer for the DUT Racing Team.

Virgílio Gruppelaar completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical Engineering from Delft University of Technology in 2013. Virgílio then pursued a Master of Science degree in the same field from the same university, which they completed in 2017. In 2012, they had a short-term exchange program at The University of Texas at Austin without completing a degree. Prior to that, they studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Universidade de Coimbra from 2008 to 2010.
