Andrew Raczkowski

Director, Vehicle Engineering at Zoox

Andrew Raczkowski is the Director of Vehicle Engineering at Zoox. Andrew has over 10 years of experience in the automotive industry, with a focus on engineering management and product development.

Andrew began their career at Tesla Motors in October 2010 as an Engineering Manager. In this role, they were responsible for the management of engineering development for interiors of premium vehicles. Andrew was a key member of the team that developed the Model 3 Interior, and they also led the team that engineered, developed, launched, and ramped up production of the Model X interior. In addition to maintaining existing programs and developing new projects, Andrew also oversaw the development of product specifications for all new projects. Andrew successfully increased the group staff by 200% over a two-year period.

During their time at Tesla Motors, Andrew also led the engineering development for a large portion of the interior trim on the Model S program (2013 Motor Trend Car of the Year), including the overhead system, pillar trim (including leather wrapping), trunk trim, carpet, and interior acoustical package. Andrew was responsible for overseeing a group of six design engineers to design, develop, and engineer the interior for the Model S program. This was accomplished in a fast-paced start-up environment and presented many challenges to innovate interior components for an all electric vehicle. In addition to leading the sourcing of over 50 tools and 100 components to suppliers, Andrew also managed all aspects of the development process from concept development and design studio release to final data release and vehicle launch. This included developing engineering systems and helping build an engineering department from three people to 21 in less than 24 months. Andrew was also responsible for product costs, including meeting program targets and evaluating new technologies to achieve program goals. Andrew managed an ED&T budget of $8 million and a prototype budget of $4 million during their time at Tesla Motors.

In October 2016, Andrew left Tesla Motors to join Zoox as the Director of Vehicle Engineering. In this role, they are responsible for ensuring that all development projects are on time and on budget. Andrew has experience developing and launching a new vehicle platform in a new manufacturing facility, and they are skilled in managing both full-time and contract personnel.
