Aimee Chen has worked in various roles since 2015. Aimee began as a Teaching Assistant Tutor at Puente Hills Chinese School in 2015. In 2016, they were a Paid Corporate Intern in the Legal Department at BlackLine and a Paid Summer Intern in the Clinical Research Associate Department at Pfizer. In 2017, they were a Summer Intern at Weimob. From 2018 to 2020, they were a Biological Science Aide at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine. In this role, they were a student volunteer/graduate student for the Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Public Health under Principal Investigator Dr. David M. Smith. Aimee carried out sample handling and preparation of human HIV-positive blood samples using lab instrumentation, aided in general organization of the lab, monitored experimental inventory and reagents, assisted in execution of experiments, reported results, and troubleshot. Aimee also maintained laboratory notebooks and detailed, accurate records of experiments, participated in the Last Gift Study, and performed Single Genome Amplification on participant tissue and blood DNA samples. Additionally, they utilized Takara Advantage 2 PCR kit to run rounds of PCR per sample using HIV pol gene specific primers, performed gel electrophoresis on participant samples, executed Nanodrop analysis to determine concentrations of sample DNA, and analyzed data sets from the study and helped to create figures for publication and Master's thesis. In 2020, they began working as a Research and Development Technician II at Zymo Research Corp.

Aimee Chen has a Master of Science in Biology from UC San Diego, which they obtained in 2020. Aimee also has a Bachelor's degree in Human Biology from UC San Diego, which they obtained in 2019. In 2015, they obtained an International Baccalaureate for Visual Arts from the International Baccalaureate. In 2012, they obtained a Certificate of Completion for AIDS Walk Los Angeles from AIDS Project Los Angeles. Additionally, they hold a Certification of Merit for Piano-Advanced from MTAC.
