Max Schaefer

Max Schaefer is a seasoned gaming industry executive with extensive experience leading prominent companies. Currently serving as VP of Gaming at Zynga since March 2021, Schaefer's previous roles include CEO at Echtra, Inc. from February 2016 to March 2021, and CEO at Runic Games from August 2008 to February 2016. Earlier in their career, Schaefer held the position of COO at Flagship Studios for five years and also functioned as COO during the combined tenure within Ping0 and Flagship Studios from 2003 to 2008. Additionally, Schaefer contributed as Vice President at Blizzard Entertainment and Blizzard North from 1996 to 2003. Max Schaefer earned a BS in Environmental Design from the University of Colorado Boulder between 1984 and 1988.
