Dropbox is expanding its Board of Directors with the addition of influential tech entrepreneur Micheal Seibel. Effective immediately he will sit on the global collaboration platform’s board alongside prominent leaders like former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and former Nike CFO Don Blair.
In its announcement, Dropbox said Seibel's deep experience working with and growing companies will provide perspective as it explores new product territory and enters its next phase of growth.
Seibel is a co-founder and former CEO of Justin.tv, a popular interactive video platform that is now known as Twitch. Since leaving Justin.tv, Seibel co-founded and ran Socialcam, a social video app that was bought by Autodesk in 2012. Seibel has worked at startup accelerator Y Combinator since 2013 and was named a partner in 2014 and CEO in 2016. The accelerator has funded and advised more than 1,800 startups over the past 7 years.
He is also an accomplished investor who has backed companies across a variety of industries including Brex, which offers corporate credit cards to startups, and Cruise, a self-driving car startup now owned by GM.
Dropbox is the second company to add Seibel to its board in 2020, as in June, Reddit appointed Seibel the fill the board seat vacated by co-founder Alexis Ohanian.
