Executive Moves You Should Know About This Week (September 3, 2024)

Stripe

Rahul Patil has been promoted to CTO of Stripe following David Singleton’s departure, who will be leaving Stripe to start his own venture. Patil joined Stripe in March of 2020 and most recently served as the Deputy CTO. Prior to Stripe, Patil has been on teams at prominent tech companies including Oracle, Amazon, and Microsoft. He will be responsible for all global operations at Stripe including high level financial constructs, Security & Trust, and low level engineering infrastructure.

Shopify

Shopify has appointed Mikhail Parakhin as their new CTO that will oversee their engineering and data organizations. Parakhin joins from Microsoft where he led AI initiatives and worked on their advertising and web services teams. Prior to Microsoft, he served as CTO of Yandex, a Russian multinational technology company where he also focused on their search and ads products.

StraighterLine

StraigterLine, a US based educational company that offers low-price, online higher education courses, has hired Matt Hulett as their CEO. Hulet was most recently CEO and President of PetMeds, an online pet pharmacy. He has extensive experience in the tech space and brings over relevant edtech experience from his time as President of Rosetta Stone.

Electra

Electra, an aerospace company that builds aircraft to help decarbonize aviation, welcomes Marc Allen as their new CEO. Allen will succeed John Langford, the founder of Electra who will remain as chairman of the board. Allen has over seventeen years of experience in the aerospace industry having served a variety of roles at Boeing with his most recent role as their Chief Strategy Officer.
