Hugo B. Spindola

Hugo B. Spindola, Esq. has over 20 years of work experience in various legal roles. Currently, they are the Director of Legal Operations and Cross Funds Secretary at 1199SEIU Benefit and Pension Funds. In this role, they oversee the Legal Operations division and is responsible for managing the Contracts, Appeals, Workers' Compensation & Liens, Fraud & Abuse, and Compliance Departments. Prior to this, Hugo worked as the Welfare Fund Manager at the New York City District Council of Carpenters Benefit Funds, where they managed the processing of claims and benefits provided by third-party vendors. Hugo B. also served as the Manager of the Medical Review & Appeals Departments at AFTRA Health and Retirement Funds, overseeing two departments that provided health and pension benefits to union members. Hugo has also held the positions of Executive Deputy Commissioner & General Counsel at the New York State Athletic Commission and Associate Counsel at Marvin A. Cooper, P.C. where they handled civil litigation cases in personal injury matters. Hugo B. began their legal career as In-House Counsel at Goldfarb Properties-Pelican Management, where they headed the Collections Department and handled landlord/tenant and contract issues.

Hugo B. Spindola, Esq. obtained their Juris Doctor (JD) degree from the University at Buffalo School of Law, where they studied from 1993 to 1997. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Finance at Iona University, from 1990 to 1993. In addition, they pursued a pre-medical program at the University of Maryland Global Campus from 1988 to 1990. Hugo B.'ssecondary education was completed at Harrison High School from 1984 to 1988, earning their high school diploma (HS).
