David Baker is currently the Chief Security Officer at 23andMe. Prior to that, they were the Chief Security Officer at Bugcrowd from February 2017 to January 2020. Before that, they were the Chief Security Officer at Okta, Inc. from June 2012 to January 2017.

At Okta, David was responsible for helping to build and deploy many of the world’s leading on-demand and enterprise software solutions. Okta is a company that provides directory services, single sign-on, strong authentication, provisioning, workflow, and built in reporting. It runs in the cloud on a secure, reliable, extensively audited platform and integrates deeply with on premises applications, directories, and identity management systems.

Under David’s leadership, Okta became one of the fastest growing identity management services in the world. Today, Okta is used by hundreds of enterprises including Activision, Allergan, BMC Software, Groupon, Informatica, LinkedIn, Purolator and SAP.

Before joining Okta, David spent many years in various security roles at companies such as Salesforce.com, PeopleSoft, Microsoft, BMC, Arcsight, Sun, WebEx, and HP.

David has a wealth of experience in the security industry and is considered an expert in their field. David is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley where they studied Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

David Baker has a Masters of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from California State Polytechnic University-Pomona.
