Ian Stockton BSc(Hons) MIET

Ian Stockton has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. Ian Stockton started their career working as an Electronics Technician (Operator/Maintainer) for the British Army, where they provided maintenance and repair support for electronic equipment used by the military.

Ian then moved on to become an Electronics Technician (Manager/Inspector), where they maintained, inspected, and repaired highly sensitive electronic equipment for use in explosive ordinance situations. Ian Stockton also successfully introduced a new Technical Repair Facility for deployed electronic repair and produced detailed performance guides for the organization.

After that, Ian took on the role of Deputy Information Manager & Deployed Information Systems Manager at Headquarters 3 (UK) Division. In this role, they provided technical expertise for military information systems and assisted in writing and implementing Information Management Policy. Ian Stockton also chaired Information Management Working Groups to drive best practices.

Ian further developed their skill set by becoming a Senior Electronics Technician/Manager at 4 Battalion REME. Ian Stockton provided technical expertise to senior management, implemented new working practices to improve productivity and reduce waste, and supervised a highly technical team.

Ian Stockton also supported and advised Divisional and Brigade Headquarters and provided feedback and analysis of training events.

Lastly, Ian served as an Information Management and Deployed Information Systems Warrant Officer, where they trained and developed a team of application specialists. Ian Stockton provided support for SharePoint, MS Office, intelligence applications, network and server administration, and implemented new information management practices to improve efficiency. Ian Stockton also led the successful conversion to a new geo-spatial battlespace management software.

Overall, Ian Stockton has gained extensive experience in electronics, information management, training systems, and project management throughout their career.

Ian Stockton attended Tividale Comprehensive School from 1983 to 1988, where they obtained 8 GCSE Grade C qualifications in subjects such as English Literature, English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, and Technology. Following this, they enrolled in the School of Electronic Engineering from 1992 to 2011, earning a BTEC National Certificate in Engineering (Electrical/Electronic) and Electronic and Aeronautical Engineering. Ian's tertiary education took place at The Open University from 2007 to 2013, where they completed a BSc (Hons) degree in Information Technology with a focus on Technology. In 2014, they attended the Knowledge Academy to pursue a course in Managing Successful Programs. Additionally, Ian obtained ITIL v3 certification from QA, although specific dates for this qualification were not provided.
