Antony Phillips

Antony Phillips has over 12 years of work experience in the field of optimisation. From 2009 to 2011, they worked as a Research Intern at the Network Design and Simulation Group at the University of Auckland. From 2011 to 2015, they were an Optimisation Consultant at the Health and Disability Advocacy Service, where they worked on vehicle routing. Antony then moved to the Waitemata District Health Board as an Optimisation Consultant for Healthcare Simulation from 2015 to 2016. In 2016, they joined Pivigo as a Data Scientist and Science to Data Science Fellow, where they implemented Machine Learning algorithms to predict user behaviour in an online marketplace of locum GP staffing. That same year, they also joined Stats NZ as an Optimisation Consultant. From 2016 to 2018, they worked as a Senior Data Scientist at Deliveroo, where they held two roles. From 2018 to 2019, they worked as a Senior Data Scientist at Tesco, where they designed optimisation algorithms using Operational Research techniques. From 2019 to 2022, they have been working as a Senior Data Scientist and Project Tech Lead at Shell, and is currently working as a Lead Optimisation Engineer at 7bridges.

Antony Phillips attended The University of Auckland from 2006 to 2010, where they completed a BE(Hons) / BCom Conjoint in Engineering Science and Finance. Antony then returned to The University of Auckland from 2011 to 2015 to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Operations Research.
