Jim Dalton has a long and varied work experience, beginning in 2000 when they served as a Contract Speech Writer and Special Assistant/Speech Writer for Governor Dirk Kempthorne. In 2006, they became an Associate/Deputy City Prosecutor for Fredericksen, Williams, Meservy & Lothspeich, LLP. From 2007 to 2008, they were an Associate in Securities and Shareholder Litigation & SEC Enforcement at Jones Day. During this time, they also served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. In 2010, they became the Vice President & General Manager and General Counsel for Riverbend Management, Inc., providing legal counsel to a Single Family Office. From 2016 to 2017, they were a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Idaho. During this time, they also served as Executive Director and General Counsel for American Heritage Charter School, Inc. In 2018, they became General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer and Deputy General Counsel for Kyäni. Jim currently serves as General Counsel for 7k Metals Corporate.

Jim Dalton attended the University of Idaho from 1994 to 1998, where they earned a B.G.S. in Civil Engineering and Spanish. Jim then attended BYU Law School from 2003 to 2006, where they earned a Juris Doctor in Law.
