Simon Venshtain

Simon Venshtain is the current CTO at 8i. Prior to this, they were the Head of Research at Jaunt XR from August 2018 to September 2019, which was acquired by Verizon. Simon led R&D efforts on real-time volumetric capture pipelines. From November 2012 to August 2018, Simon was the CTO at Personify Inc, which was acquired by Jaunt XR. At Personify Inc, Simon worked on real time holographic capture and streaming and led a team of researchers and engineers to create state-of-the art holographic capture and compression. Prior to that, from January 2009 to December 2010, Simon was a graduate teaching assistant at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for ECE 391, systems programming. From February 2011 to November 2012, Simon worked as a software engineer at Qualcomm Innovation Center Inc on new features and performance optimization in graphics software for current and future generation GPUs with a focus on mobile solutions. Lastly, from May 2008 to August 2010, Simon was a software intern at Qualcomm Innovation Center Inc.

Simon Venshtain has a MS in Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a BS in Computer Engineering from the same school.
