Simon Launder has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Simon began their career in the British Army as a Communications Manager, serving for over a decade.
After leaving the military, Launder worked for Armor Holdings as a Communications Manager and Project Manager, leading the network rebuild of 80 government banks in post-war Iraq. Their responsibilities included establishing and training local technical resources and managing key stakeholders.
Simon then joined Woodside Energy as a Technical Project Manager, providing ICT technical delivery and support for exploration and production activities in Mauritania, West Africa. Simon successfully led various technical initiatives and provided ongoing support to operations.
Launder later joined Rio Tinto Iron and Titanium as a Site Comms Programme Manager, where they were responsible for delivering IT and Communications systems and infrastructure for an Iron Ore mine in Guinea, West Africa. Simon then established their own company called Global ICT Ltd, where they served as the Programme Director. Their company provided ICT technical delivery and support for globally dispersed organizations during ongoing operations and mergers. Launder successfully managed a team to provide efficient and timely support to clients.
Launder went on to work for African Minerals as the Head of Projects & Strategy (ICT), responsible for managing a portfolio of 140 projects with a value of $45 million. Simon brought visibility, accountability, risk management, and standardization to the department to support the business.
Subsequently, Launder worked for HM Revenue & Customs as the Head of Project Delivery - Pega Delivery Group, responsible for overseeing the delivery of projects.
Simon then worked at Coventry University in various roles, including IT Director and Deputy Chief Digital Information Officer. In these positions, Launder played a crucial role in managing IT operations and digital transformations.
Most recently, Launder joined A-Gas as the Group Chief Technology Officer. In this role, they are responsible for leading the technology strategy and innovation for the company.

Simon Launder has a diverse education history. Simon attended the University of Hull, where they completed three degrees. In 2001, they obtained a degree in Voice & Data Communications. During the same year, they also earned a degree in Telecommunications & Electronic Telecommunications as well as Cellular Engineering. Prior to attending university, Simon Launder attended Scarborough College until 1990. Their educational journey began at Tockington Manor, where they completed their studies in 1989. In addition to their formal education, Simon Launder has also obtained several certifications. These include ITIL from AXELOS Global Best Practice, Managing Successful Programmes from APMG-International, Prince2 from APMG-International, and Welding - MIG/TIG/MMA from Hereford & Ludlow College.
