Yuta Ando

Yuta Ando has a diverse work experience in the field of biomedical engineering and cancer research. Yuta is currently working as a Scientist II at A2 Biotherapeutics, Inc. starting in October 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Scientist I at the same company from October 2020 to October 2022.

Before joining A2 Biotherapeutics, Inc., Yuta Ando was a Ph.D. candidate in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Southern California. Yuta held this position from August 2015 to August 2020. During their time there, they focused on leveraging engineering principles and microfabrication techniques to create an artificial tumor for assessing therapy strategies, with a specific focus on tumor microenvironment and tumor immunotherapy.

Yuta Ando also worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Virginia Health System from December 2012 to June 2015. During this time, they conducted cancer research under the supervision of Dr. Kumari Andarawewa in the Andarawewa lab. Yuta was involved in various projects related to cancer research. Additionally, Yuta worked as a Lab Assistant in the Parsons lab and Weber lab at the University of Virginia Health System from May 2012 to June 2015. In this role, they performed general lab maintenance duties and also collaborated with a pharmaceutical company on an individual project.

Yuta Ando holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from the University of Southern California. Yuta also earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Biology, General from the University of Virginia. Prior to that, Yuta attended Nagoya International School for their high school education. In addition to their formal education, Yuta has obtained certifications in Aikido from Aiki-Kai in November 2008 and in Shamisen from Fujimoto-Kai in May 2007.
