Bill Walsh has a significant work experience in various roles. Bill started their career as a news correspondent for TIME magazine from 1994 to 1996, where they covered stories on scandals and investments. From 1998 to 2008, they worked as a Washington correspondent for The (New Orleans) Times-Picayune and Newhouse News Service, specializing in political and healthcare coverage and appearing as a guest on various news channels. In 2008, they joined AARP as a Sr. Advisor and co-managed the strategy for educating consumers on public health benefits and developing competitive intelligence. Bill then became the Director of Strategy, Planning, and Executive Communications, where they advised on national brand campaigns and developed enterprise-wide style guidance. Their most recent role at AARP was as the Vice President of Integrated Communications, where they led the central communications and marketing team, managed a large budget, and developed executive communications for the board of directors while serving on the crisis response team.

Bill Walsh has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Political Science and Government from Bates College. Bill also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. In addition, they obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Communication and Media Studies from The Ohio State University. Furthermore, they have a certification in "Professional, Health Insurance Advanced Studies" (PHIAS) from America's Health Insurance Plans, which they obtained in June 2010.
