Merja Oja currently serves as the Head of Bioinformatics at AB Enzymes since June 2023. Previously, Merja held the position of Head of Bioinformatics and Senior Scientist at Roal Oy from September 2016 to August 2024. Merja's experience includes a role as a Senior Scientist in the Synthetic Biology team at VTT from January 2009 to August 2016 and a postdoctoral position in the Department of Genome Sciences at the University of Washington in 2008. Earlier positions also include researcher roles at Helsinki University of Technology and the University of Helsinki, along with a PhD in computer science specializing in bioinformatics and an MSc in Information Science, both from Teknillinen korkeakoulu-Tekniska högskolan.
