Janna Bednenko

Janna Bednenko serves as the Head of Protein Expression and Genetics at AbCellera since January 2023, following a long tenure in similar roles at TetraGenetics Inc. from November 2009 to January 2023, where responsibilities included assembling teams for the production of hard-to-express recombinant proteins and overseeing therapeutic antibody development. Janna also held the position of Head of Genetics at TetraGenetics, focusing on potassium voltage-gated channel Kv1.3 expression methods. Prior experience includes roles as a Research Scientist and Senior Scientist at TetraGenetics, contributing significantly to a novel protein expression platform, and as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Rochester, identifying factors in small RNA-mediated gene silencing. Janna’s academic background includes a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Texas A&M University and an M.S. in Molecular Biology from Moscow University.
