Gert Botes

Gert Botes, FASSA, currently serves as the Head of Capital & Balance Sheet Management (Vice President) at Absa Group since January 2018, leading a team of five actuarial specialists and analysts while overseeing critical areas such as Solvency Assessment and Management, Asset Liability Management, and Investment Management. Prior roles at Absa include Actuarial Specialist at the Assistant Vice President level, where responsibilities encompassed FSV valuation processes and embedded value calculations. Gert also held actuarial analyst positions focusing on capital management and stress testing. Academic qualifications include an Honours degree in Actuarial Science and a Bachelor of Science in the same field from North-West University, complemented by tutoring and marking experience in life contingencies, financial mathematics, and algebra.
