Senior Scientist,  AI Biologics Discovery and Engineering, High-throughput Screening

Vancouver, WA (on-site)

As a Scientist/Senior Scientist in High-Throughput Screening, you will work end-to-end to characterize biologics using cutting-edge screening platforms to advance Absci’s Integrated Drug CreationTM Platform to enable AI. You are enthusiastic about laboratory bench work, have meticulous attention to detail, are eager to learn new techniques, and are comfortable working in a highly dynamic and rapidly scaling company.

A successful candidate for this position is detail-oriented, highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving biotech environment. They appreciate working independently towards pre-established goals with a solid ability to multi-task across multiple projects with varying levels of complexity and priority.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute and supervise laboratory work inclusive of cloning, cultivation, and high-throughput screening of antibody libraries 
  • Collaborate with the members of the AI department to author and supervise the generation of design documents and reports.
  • Follow and develop standard operating procedures to obtain reproducible results.
  • Analyze and present data to project teams, senior leadership, and partners
  • Develop and optimize new assays in a cross-functional environment
  • Work independently and be adaptable in line with changing priorities 
  • Maintain relevant knowledge in emerging approaches for high throughput screening
  • Occasional onsite weekend work is required 

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or related field or equivalent experience with at least 0-5 years of industry experience in a biotech setting
  • Minimum 3 years hands-on experience working with flow cytometers and analysis (FlowJo, Prism/JMP software)
  • Experience in microbial and/or mammalian cell systems with yeast display or other high throughput display methodologies is preferred.

Senior Scientist

  • PhD in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or related field or equivalent experience with at least 5  years of industry experience in a biotech setting
  • Minimum 3 years hands-on experience with flow cytometer assay development and analysis (FlowJo, Prism/JMP software)
  • Expertise in screening high-diversity libraries via FACS using yeast surface display or other high throughput antibody display modalities and ability to be a subject matter expert for teams and programs.
  • Experience training and mentoring junior Scientists on new techniques and assays

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) and analysis 

Scientist salary range: $108,000 - 135,000/year.

Senior Scientist salary range: $127,000 - 165,000/year.
