Elizabeth H.z. Thompson

Elizabeth H.Z. Thompson serves as the Executive Vice President of Research and Development at Acadia Pharmaceuticals Inc. since April 2024 and is a Board Member at IGM Biosciences, Inc. Additionally, Elizabeth briefly held the position of Executive Vice President for Research and Development in Rare Disease at Amgen from October 2023 to January 2024, following a significant tenure at Horizon Therapeutics from June 2018 to October 2023, where Elizabeth advanced to lead R&D and integrated organizational efforts post-acquisition of Viela Bio. With extensive experience in clinical development and strategic leadership across several biopharma companies, Elizabeth has played critical roles in advancing clinical-stage pipelines, directing R&D strategies, and navigating regulatory processes, including successful FDA interactions for orphan diseases. Elizabeth’s educational background includes a PhD in Macromolecular and Cellular Structure and Chemistry from Scripps Research and a B.S. in Chemistry from Harvey Mudd College.
