Shelly Buchman

Shelly Buchman has extensive work experience in various legal and leadership roles. Shelly is currently working as the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at AccessDx Lab since September 2021. Prior to that, Shelly founded and served as the Director of Valorem Consulting Solutions starting from February 2022.

From 2014 to 2021, Shelly worked at RigNet, a publicly held managed communications company serving the oil and gas industry. Shelly held multiple positions during their tenure, including Vice President of Global Human Resources, Associate General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary. In these roles, they played a key role in developing and implementing HR strategies globally and ensuring compliance with securities law and corporate governance requirements.

Before joining RigNet, Shelly served as the General Counsel - Americas at SThree, a global staffing company, from 2013 to 2014. Shelly was responsible for overseeing legal operations in the United States, Canada, and Latin and South America.

Shelly also has experience at Weatherford, a global oilfield services company, where they worked as a Legal Counsel and Contract Attorney in 2012. Their responsibilities included assisting with contract and compliance matters.

Prior to that, Shelly worked at NRG Energy as a Staff Attorney & Corporate Generalist from 2005 to 2009, drafting and negotiating various agreements related to power generation and energy services.

Shelly began their legal career as an Associate Counsel at Bracewell LLP from 2000 to 2002.

Shelly Buchman obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Spanish Language and Literature from The Ohio State University in the years 1990 to 1994. Shelly then went on to pursue their law studies at St. Mary's University School of Law from 1997 to 1998, although the specific degree obtained during this period is not provided. Shelly completed their Doctor of Law (J.D.) with cum laude honors at the University of Houston Law Center from 1998 to 2000.

In terms of additional certifications, Shelly became a Licensed Attorney in November 2000, as recognized by the State Bar of Texas. Shelly obtained the Certified in Health Care Compliance (CHC) certification from the Compliance Certification Board (CCB) in September 2022. As for their ongoing education, Shelly is currently enrolled in the University of Texas Executive Education Program, studying Finance for Non-Financial Managers since 2020.
