Matt Smith has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Matt started their career as a College Program Intern at Walt Disney World. Matt then served in the US Navy, first as a Division Officer on the USS Newport News and later as a Flag Lieutenant in Naval District Washington. Following their military service, they joined Kraft Foods Group as an Associate Brand Manager for Kool-Aid and later became a Senior Associate Brand Manager for Capri Sun and Brand Manager for Planters Growth Channels & CornNuts. Matt also held roles at The Kraft Heinz Company, including Associate Director for Planters and various positions within the Oscar Mayer division. Most recently, they worked as the Vice President of Work, Wellness, and Growth Enablement at ACCO Brands. Throughout their career, Matt has demonstrated leadership, strategic planning, and operational skills.

Matt Smith completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and Economics at Rutgers University from 1999 to 2003. After that, they obtained a Master's degree equivalent in Nuclear Engineering from the Nuclear Power School - Naval Nuclear Power Training Command (NNPTC) in 2004. In 2016 and 2017, they pursued a Command and Staff Diploma in Joint Professional Military Education at the U.S. Naval War College.
