Fidel Herráez Vegas

Fidel Herráez Vegas completed his ecclesiastical studies at the Madrid Seminary, where he entered in 1956. He was ordained a priest in 1968. He has a degree and a doctorate in Moral Theology from the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome, as well as the author of several publications on Fundamental Moral Theology.

In 1996 he was elected titular bishop of Cedie and auxiliary of Madrid, receiving Episcopal ordination on June 29 of the same year. In the Episcopal Conference, he is a member of the Permanent Commission and has belonged to the Episcopal Commission for Teaching and Catechesis since 1996. The Episcopal Conference appointed him national chaplain of the ACdP in 2011. On October 30, 2015, Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Burgos , taking possession of the archdiocese on November 28 of the same year.
