Niko Smeets

Niko Smeets has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Niko began their career in 1988 as an Air Force Officer in the Belgian Air Force. Following this, they worked as the Head of Accounting and Personnel Management at Saillart Bouwspecialiteiten NV from 1993 to 2000. In 1996, they started their own business in Accounting and Taxation, which they ran until 2005 alongside their other positions. From 2000 to 2012, Niko worked at HAROL GROEP, initially as a Financial and HR Manager, eventually taking on responsibilities in financial management of acquisitions. In 2012, they took on interim projects in the Automotive, Logistics, and Culture sector. From 2013 to 2016, Niko served as the Finance Manager (CFO) at Panasonic - Ideas for Life. In 2015, they also took on a role as a Commissioner at FTML - LIMTEC, a non-profit training fund in the technology industry sector. From 2017 to 2018, Niko worked as the CFO and F&A Manager at Betcenter. Currently, they are employed at Acerta, where they have held multiple positions since 2018, including Business Development Director and Director of Business Development & Payroll Services for the Brussels Region.

Niko Smeets attended the Amandina College in Herk-de-Stad from 1980 to 1986, where they obtained their HSO degree in the field of Latin and Sciences. In 1987, Niko successfully passed the entrance exam with the option of joining the Air Force at the Luchtmacht school. From 1990 to 1993, they attended the PHHI Provinciaal Hoger Handelsinstituut Hasselt and earned a Graduaat degree in Accountancy & Fiscaliteit. Then, from 1993 to 1996, Niko attended B.I.B.F and obtained recognition and admission in the field of Bookkeeping and Taxation. In 2013, Niko pursued a Management Degree with a focus on Leadership, Change, and Business Simulations through a program at London - Hemsley Fraser - Vector Group.
