Michael Slaton

Senior Software Engineer at Acorn Labs

Michael Slaton has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering. Michael started their career as a Software Engineering Co-Op at Oracle, where they worked with technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, and Jenkins to develop and manage a complex cloud native platform. Michael also collaborated in a Scrum team and worked with a well-established code base.

After their co-op, Michael worked as a Software Engineering Intern at Red Ventures, where they developed projects assigned by their team using technologies such as Golang, Docker, gRPC, Git, and Microservices. Michael followed Scrum principles and actively participated in daily stand-ups and sprint plannings.

Michael then joined the University of North Carolina at Charlotte as a Teaching Assistant for Intro to Computer Science 1. Michael assisted students with questions and concerns, held office hours, graded assignments, and led lab sessions where students tackled coding puzzles.

Following their TA role, Michael returned to Red Ventures as a Software Engineer. Michael worked extensively with various technologies, including AWS, Vue, Golang, Python, Terraform, and TypeScript. Michael created and deployed cloud solutions using AWS services such as SQS, Lambda, EC2, ECS, VPC, S3, and Event Bridge. Michael also established a comprehensive monitoring and alerting system for incident detection and developed revenue-generating assets in the financial services space.

Most recently, Michael joined Acorn Labs as a Software Engineer, starting in October 2022.

Michael Slaton completed their high school education at Ashe County High School from 2012 to 2016. Following this, from 2016 to 2019, they attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science.
