John Beckman

John Beckman has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. John currently holds the position of Senior Vice President of Design and Development at Bridgewater Studio Inc. Previously, they were the Director of Exhibit Design and Production at Adler Planetarium and served as the Principal at Sage Creative Group, LLC. Before that, they were involved in the Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery National Advisory Council at Skidmore College. John also has a rich history with the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, where they held various roles such as Director of Exhibit Design and Development, Director of Exhibit and Business Development, Project Director, and Manager of Temporary Exhibits. Additionally, they were actively engaged in the Chicago Festival Association and the Themed Entertainment Association, serving on their Leadership Board and Eastern Division Board, respectively. John also contributed to Skidmore College as the Admissions Chair for the Alumni Association Board of Directors. Beginning their career at Chicago Scenic Studios as a Project Manager, they later became a Production Assistant at Adirondack Studios.

John Beckman has a diverse education history in the fields of theatre and art. John began their education at Pembroke Hill School, where they studied from 1977 to 1985. Following this, they attended Indian Springs School from 1985 to 1987. During this time, their field of study is not specified, suggesting a more general education. John then enrolled at New Trier Township High School Winnetka from 1987 to 1990, focusing on Technical Theatre/Theatre Design and Technology. John went on to earn a BA in Theatre and Art History from Skidmore College, where they studied from 1990 to 1994. John furthered their education by obtaining a Certificate in Scenic Design and Costume Design from the Motley Design Course, which they attended from 1993 to 1994. Finally, they pursued their interest in scenic painting and faux finishing by completing a Certificate program at the Studio School of Stage Design in 1995.
