Kaitlyn Krus has a diverse work experience, beginning with their current roles as Veterinary Trainee at the USDA-FSIS and Research Assistant at Advanced Animal Diagnostics. In 2019, they were a Student Intern at the Michigan Cattlemens Association. In 2018, they were a Research Assistant at Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where they assisted a DVM/PhD student researching Bovine Leukemia Virus and how it affected reproduction. Her duties included drawing blood, entering data in Excel, micropipetting, and extracting DNA from frozen blood. In 2017, they were an Animal Caretaker at Michigan State University.

Kaitlyn Krus graduated from Michigan State University in 2019 with a Bachelor's degree in Animal Sciences: Production Animal Scholars. Kaitlyn then continued their education at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, where they obtained a Master's degree in Public Health between 2021 and 2023. Currently, they are enrolled in Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where they are pursuing a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in Veterinary Medicine, expected to be completed in 2024.
