Esteban Gil

Esteban Gil is a prominent Professor and Researcher at Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María since March 2011, with significant contributions to the field of Electrical Engineering, focusing on power systems and energy markets. As a principal researcher, Esteban has led several notable projects, including the development of an interactive information platform for energy assessment and addressing operational flexibility in power systems. Recent consulting work includes advising on decarbonization strategies for the Chilean electricity sector. Prior to current roles, Esteban gained experience as an Associate Researcher at the Advanced Center for Electrical and Electronic Engineering and worked as a consultant at Sinclair Knight Merz and McLennan Magasanik Associates, conducting modeling and analysis to optimize energy systems in Australia and elsewhere. Esteban holds a PhD and MSc in Electrical Engineering and Statistics from Iowa State University, alongside multiple degrees from Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María.
