Haris Javaid

Haris Javaid is an accomplished researcher and leader in the fields of AI and networked systems, currently serving as Director and Principal Researcher at AMD since March 2022, where leadership of a team of PhD researchers and interns is a key responsibility. Additionally, Haris leads the Performance and Scale Workgroup at Hyperledger Foundation, focusing on the performance and scalability of distributed ledgers since May 2021. Prior roles include Senior Staff Researcher at Xilinx, where exploration of data center acceleration in high-performance distributed systems occurred, and a tenure at Google as a Senior Software Engineer, developing distributed event processing systems and big data pipelines. Haris also held academic positions at the University of New South Wales, including Research Associate and Course Coordinator, contributing to various projects and teaching multiple courses. Haris holds a PhD and Master's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from UNSW, along with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences.
