Francisco Sousa

Francisco Sousa has an extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Francisco currently holds the position of Country Medical Director for Advanz Pharma Portugal, which they started in 2022. Prior to this, they served as the Country Medical Director for Intercept Pharmaceuticals Portugal from 2015 to 2022.

Before joining Intercept Pharmaceuticals, Francisco worked at AbbVie as a Medical Manager, where they handled roles in HCV and Virology from 2013 to 2015. Francisco also gained experience as a Medical Manager at Abbott Labs from 2011 to 2012.

Francisco's earlier experience includes serving as a Medical Manager at Genzyme from 2010 to 2011, a Disease Area Specialist at Bristol-Myers Squibb from 2005 to 2010, and a Medical Director at Baldacci from 2002 to 2005. Francisco also worked as a Medical Manager at Aventis from 2001 to 2002, a Medical Director at Pharmacia in 2000, and a Medical Affairs Manager at Warner Lambert from 1999 to 2000. Francisco Sousa earned a MD degree in Medicine from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, where they studied from 1979 to 1985. Francisco also obtained a Competência degree in Farmaceutical Medicine from Ordem dos Médicos in 2018.
