After her experience working in an orphanage in North India, Vimala McClure felt the need to do something for others and contribute to the well-being of humanity. In this way she brought the ancient practice of infant massage to the West. In 1978, she developed a training program, based on the massage she had learned in India and had begun to share in her Denver, Colorado community. She incorporated Swedish and reflexology methods and yoga poses, all adapted for babies. She designed a special routine for colicky babies and developed a course for parents that became the IAIM core curriculum. The IAIM Program is constantly updated by the Circle of IAIM Trainers and is taught worldwide by Certified Educators (CIMIs), present in more than 70 countries, who have been trained by qualified IAIM Trainers.
