Jim Doty

Jim Doty has a diverse work experience in various roles and organizations. Jim is currently working as a Principal Performance and Reliability Engineer at Aerospike, Inc. since March 2022. Prior to this, they were a Lead Solutions Architect at Yugabyte from August 2020 to February 2022, where they played a key role in deploying and operationalizing Yugabyte for Fortune 500 customers. Jim also worked as a Senior Software Engineer at VMware from January 2020 to August 2020.

Before their tenure at VMware, Jim served as a Senior Software Engineer at Pivotal, Inc. from April 2017 to December 2019. During their time at Pivotal, they collaborated on cross-functional teams and contributed to the design, sale, and delivery of the GBB appliance. Jim used agile and TDD techniques while working on several Greenplum DB teams.

Furthermore, Jim worked as a Data Engineer at E9Data from June 2015 to March 2017. In this role, they automated the provisioning process of bare metal, dell commodity hardware and integrated it with an MPLS network to interface with the AWS cloud. Prior to this, they worked as a Teacher at Bishop Machebeuf High School from August 2014 to June 2015, and as a Science Teacher at DeMatha Catholic High School from August 2013 to June 2014.

Jim also has experience in the education sector as an Education RPCV in the Peace Corps from June 2011 to August 2013. Jim started their career as a Research Associate at Rice University from August 2007 to April 2011. Additionally, they worked as a Research Associate at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center from May 2008 to August 2008, where they were involved in the miniaturization and development of a time-of-flight mass spectrometer.

Jim Doty attended Rice University from 2006 to 2010, where they received a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Physics.
