Mostafa Gilanifar

Mostafa (Moe) Gilanifar, Ph.D. has a diverse range of work experience in the field of data science and machine learning. Mostafa (Moe) has worked as a Lead Data Scientist at The AES Corporation since 2023. Prior to that, they were a Senior Data Scientist at Duke Energy Corporation from 2021 to 2023, where they developed advanced models to determine the impacts of renewable energy and electric vehicles on the electric power grid.

Before their role at Duke Energy Corporation, Mostafa worked as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at the Utah Smart Energy Lab from 2019 to 2021. Mostafa (Moe) led and supported research projects in machine learning for cybersecurity, IoT-enabled electric vehicles, city mobility, and critical infrastructure resiliency.

Mostafa also has experience as a Graduate Researcher at the Center for Advanced Power Systems (CAPS) from 2017 to 2019, where they worked on machine learning algorithms for urban mobility characterization and anomaly detection in power systems. Prior to that, they were a Senior Data Scientist at IDIN Consulting Group from 2016 to 2019, where they applied data science solutions to analyze a variety of datasets and collaborated with key stakeholders to drive business solutions and insights.

Mostafa started their career as a Graduate Student Research Assistant at Florida State University- Quality Engineering Lab from 2014 to 2017. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated expertise in leveraging data-driven techniques, statistical models, and advanced algorithms to solve complex business problems and drive innovation.

Mostafa (Moe) Gilanifar, Ph.D. has a strong education background in the field of Industrial Engineering. Mostafa (Moe) completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Industrial Engineering from Sharif University of Technology in 2011. Mostafa (Moe) then pursued a Master of Science (MSc) in Industrial Engineering and Management Systems from Amirkabir University of Technology - Tehran Polytechnic between 2011 and 2013.

In 2014, Moe began their studies at Florida State University, where they earned a Master of Science (MSc) in Industrial Engineering from 2014 to 2016. Mostafa (Moe) simultaneously pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Industrial Engineering specializing in Data Mining from 2014 to 2019. During this time, they also pursued a Minor in Statistics, which they completed in 2019.

In addition to their educational accomplishments, Moe has obtained a certification in Primavera P6, project controller, though the details of when and where they acquired this certification are not specified.
