Patrick Rooney

Patrick Rooney is the Managing Director, Asia Pacific & Middle East at AESC. Patrick has over 15 years of experience in leadership positions in the Asia-Pacific region.

Previously, they were the Regional Managing Director (Asia) at Academic Search International, where they led search and recruitment initiatives for universities across Asia. Patrick also served as the Academic Administrator, Division of Undergraduate Studies at Unitec Institute of Technology, where they oversaw quality assurance of undergraduate programmes, approvals and accreditations, development programmes for administrative staff, and academic secretariat functions.

Before their work in higher education, Rooney served as the Ministerial Assistant to the Minister of Youth Affairs, Womens' Affairs, and Statistics and Associate Minister of Labour and Commerce in the New Zealand Parliament. Patrick also held the positions of President of the New Zealand Union of Students' Associations and member of the Committee on University Academic Programmes (CUAP) at Universities New Zealand.

Rooney has a deep commitment to education and has spent their career working to improve access and quality in higher education institutions across the Asia-Pacific region.

Patrick Rooney has a Master of Arts (MA) in Asian and International Studies from City University of Hong Kong. Patrick also has a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Psychology from The University of Hong Kong. In addition, they have an Advanced Certificate in Executive Search & Leadership Consulting from Cornell University. Patrick also has a Graduate Diploma in International Relations from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Finally, they have a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Social Policy from Massey University.

Patrick Rooney reports to Karen Greenbaum, CEO. They are on a team with Clare Mahon - Managing Director, Europe & Africa, Frank Petruzzo - CFO, and Joe Chappell - CMO.
